There are many books available on the market to help your child prepare for the 11+. The Illustrated First Aid in English is a book which I've used for many years. It covers vocabulary, spelling, syntax, metaphors, similes and personification.
Writing creatively is a skill that is tested at the 11+. For the Sutton schools, this skill will be tested in the second exam after the Selective Eligibility Test (SET).
